Expanding low-carbon fuel production in Burnaby

Upgrade and expansion at Parkland Corp. Burnaby Refinery

Minister Ralston announced with Parkland an expansion of low-carbon fuel production at Burnaby’s Parkland Refinery, creating new jobs and economic opportunities for British Columbians, while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

This expansion will create 1,000 jobs and will further reduce greenhouse gas emissions by two megatonnes per year – equivalent to removing 700,000 vehicles from B.C.’s roads.

With the effects of climate change on our doorstep, it’s more important than ever to speed up the use of made-in-BC low carbon fuels to help meet our CleanBC climate goals. Changes to BC’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard laws will help reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and transition to low carbon fuels like biofuels, hydrogen and electricity.
